The DSIR(Department of Scientific and Industrial Research) provides recognition to software product and manufacturing companies having in- house R&D centres. The DSIR also has a set of guidelines regarding the manpower in the said R&D centres.
1. As per DSIR Guidelines, the R&D manpower should be dedicated, and should include:
There should be a dedicated head for the R&D centre. The R&D head has to be at least a Graduate, preferably of Science background, with substantial work experience. In case of PhD holders, moderate experience is acceptable.
There should be team leaders in various departments viz. Prototyping, Drawing & Designing
2. The salaries of the Manpower under R&D is allowed u/s 35(2AB) of Income Tax Act but only for diploma holders and above.
So, if your R&D centres follow the DSIR Guidelines, its time to get it recognised!!
